Spectrum Help

Spectrum is currently looking for volunteers in both of our thrift store locations. We have worked with the silver cord program in the past and would welcome students looking to earn their cords. We are looking for individuals to sort, clean, and display merchandise, and assist customers in our stores. We will work with school schedules allowing for after school hours and Saturdays. Again, we would welcome volunteers in both our Cresco and Decorah stores. Contact Kelly at KLarson@thespectrumnetwork.org if interested.

Helping Services Volunteers Needed

Helping Services is looking for students aged 14 and older to help with daycare for children during their parenting courses. They need 3 to 4 students. Contact Jazmon Boose or Kayla Fredrickson at (563) 864-7163.

October 27, November 11, 10, 17, 24, and December 1 at St. Benedict’s Elementary from 6:00-8:00 PM

Assistance for Title 1 Teacher

The Title 1 Reading teachers would like 4 students (boys or girls) to help students decorate boxes, with snack and choose books.

They would need to come to the CE Discovery Center on Sept. 15th @ 6:15 till approx. 7:30ish.  Contact Mrs. Murray or Mrs. Foster at Crestwood Elementary if interested.

Tutoring Help Needed

Mrs. Rebecca Ortner, a third grade teacher at Notre Dame Elementary, is looking for a tutor for after school homework help with a student.  She is looking for someone to meet with him after school on Mondays and Wednesdays to complete third grade math and study spelling words.  Contact Mrs. Ortner at rortner@nd.pvt.k12.ia.us if interested or by calling Notre Dame at 547-4513.

Help with Smoothies

Cheryl Dickman needs  6 students to help with smoothies during the Kick Off Event on Friday Sept. 5th.  I would need 3 over at the K-8 gym and 3 at the concession stand starting right after the program gets done.

Mobile Food Pantry Help

Betty Schmitt coordinates the Mobile Food Pantry for Howard County.  The pantry is the first Saturday of each month from 8:30 to 11:30am.  Duties include unloading the truck, setting up the distribution area, distributing the food and assisting people with their groceries to their cars, and cleaning up the area after we are finished.  The food pantry is held at First Lutheran Church located at 920 East 3rd Street in Cresco.  The pantry will be held this Saturday Sept 6th  If any students area interested in helping, that would be great!  They can either email me at school or call me at 547-4843 in the evening.  

Notre Dame Fair Help:

"Volunteers are needed Sunday, Sept 9, at various times to help with Notre Dame's Fair Day.  Silver Cord hours could be earned.  Help is needed with outside games, kitchen, dining room, etc.  Contact Susan Juelsgaard, Nikki Fortney (319-240-9408), or Don Dietzenbach @ State Farm Insurance."
