American Red Cross Seeks Blood Drive Coordinator

From the American Red Cross:

Our goal is to offer more donation opportunities in your community.  Although 60% of the population is eligible to donate, less than 4% actually donate.  80% of blood is collected on mobile blood drives, and we cannot do this without sponsors!

From experience, I am going to answer a few questions that most sponsors and coordinators ask up front.

** There is no cost for hosting a blood drive, we provide all the promotional materials such as posters, paycheck inserts, table tents, banners, etc.
** We submit PSA's/press releases to the media in the community to help get the word out.
** Blood drives usually run 4 or 5 hours, but we also need 3 hours for unloading/loading, which means that we'll need the space reserved for a total of 7-8 hours the day of your blood drive. .
** We bring all the equipment, all you need are 6 tables and 25 chairs.

We have the blood drive scheduled for June 7 at the VFW Main Room from 1-5:30p.
Basically, the coordinators role would be to motivate employees, residents and the community to participate in the blood drive. All the while, I will work side-by-side with the coordinator to help make the blood drive successful. The primary role the day of the drive is to ensure that the space, tables and chairs are available .
***In addition, two (2) volunteers are needed during the blood drive. One in the canteen area and one as a greeter.
*Coordinator role: To help get the word out. Don't be a lone ranger, organize a recruitment team to help get the word out. Examples are: holding table sign-ups, sending out emails, doing PA announcements, hanging up posters, banners, etc…( I will provide all of these to you.)
Next Steps:
1.     Once we find a coordinator, I’ll meet with them in person and go over details.
2.     Start marketing and advertising!
